Fire and Smoke Damper Inspection

Fire and Smoke Damper Inspection

NFPA, The Joint Commission, ICC, and Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. require the periodic inspection of fire and smoke dampers to ensure that the dampers are operable. This includes: *Operating all dampers (with fusible links removed where applicable) to verify they fully close. *The latch, if provided, shall be checked; and moving parts lubricated as necessary. *(UL) Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. reminds all property owners whose buildings are equipped with fire, smoke and combination fire/smoke dampers to comply with the NFPA. NFPA 90A, 80, and 105 require the inspection of fire and smoke dampers. The reporting required by these codes requires some of the following information: *A Master Report Listing the location of every fire and smoke damper, the damper number, and whether the damper passed or failed inspection. If the fire or smoke damper failed inspection, a detailed reason will be provided. *Digital Documentation (i.e. Digital Picture) of every damper ?Before? and ?After? Inspection will be provided. Providing photographic proof that all fire and smoke dampers were inspected, and in turn providing visual proof of the inspection to regulatory agencies (e.g. Fire Marshall, Insurance Underwriters, The Joint Commission, etc.) and internal auditors. Plotting of the fire and smoke dampers on drawings.
