excursion limit (EL)

The OSHA standard fiber per cubic centimeter (f/cc) worker exposure limit to asbestos, averaged over a sampling period of thirty minutes (currently 1.0 f/cc). If an EL is not set, it generally does not matter how high a short exposure is, as long as the time-weighted average is below the permissible exposure limit.
