7 Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Knowledge Library

The world seems to be moving faster than ever and it's made us busier than ever, struggling to save time and energy wherever we can. So, to help you do that, we’ve put together a few quick tips on how to get the most out of the Knowledge Library so you can find the content you need as quickly as possible.

Tip # 1 - Save the site to your bookmark bar

The best way to stay updated on the latest content from our thought-leading authors is to have quick access to the site. We recommend bookmarking the Knowledge Library so that you can easily come back whenever you need. We’re constantly publishing new content, so it’s good to check back frequently.

  1. Navigate to the Knowledge Library home page (https://community.ifma.org/knowledge_library)
  2. Press Ctrl + D (on PC) or Command + D (on a Mac)

Tip # 2 - Check our publishing calendar to see when we promote the topics you’re most interested in

We promote a new topic every month and are always accepting new submissions. You can view our editorial calendar to see when we’ll be promoting your favorite topics.

Also, if there’s specific content you’d like to see more of in the library, feel free to reach out to us with your suggestions.

Tip # 3 - Review the Help section of the site

With the amount of content in the Knowledge Library, it can be easy to get overwhelmed. If you’re having trouble navigating the library or using a particular feature, check out our Help section for detailed tutorials and instructions. And if you’re still stuck or have questions, please let us know.

Tip # 4 - Volunteer to help review content

One major thing that sets IFMA’s Knowledge Library apart from other sources of built environment content on the web is that the content is continuously reviewed by a team of experienced facility management professionals to ensure it’s of the highest quality and relevant to the audience.

This selfless volunteering is what makes the library such a great resource--it’s also a great way to get a first-look at new and exciting content and give something back to your FM community in the process.

Tip # 5 - Submit your own content to be considered for publication

As I briefly mentioned in tip # 2, we’re constantly searching for great new content that facility managers and built environment professionals will find useful. If you’ve got a great original piece, please consider submitting it for consideration. This is a great way to position yourself as a thought-leader and grow your career and notoriety.

Tip # 6 - Upgrade your access with a Knowledge Pass subscription

IFMA members receive a lot of the content and benefits from the Knowledge Library completely free of charge. However, if you’d like even more value and exclusive access to templates, forms, checklists and our highest-quality pieces, consider signing up for a Knowledge Pass subscription. The Knowledge Pass is the surefire way to get the most out of the Knowledge Library and it’s only $79 a year for IFMA members.

Tip # 7 - Read this FM Pulse blog

Okay, I know, this one’s pretty obvious considering you’re here. The Knowledge Library team is working to expand the value of this blog. We are planning to consistently publish more helpful articles like this one and also build the FM Pulse into a platform for young professionals and new FMs to share their stories and experiences. If you have something you’d like to share, please reach out to us.
