Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
The nation?s premier civil rights enforcement agency. The EEOC was created by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and given the mission of eliminating illegal discrimination from the workplace. Its mission has been shaped over the years by numerous laws and amendments, and a handful of executive orders, which have expanded, limited or directed the Commission?s responsibilities and authority.
